National Honor Society

The National Honor Society (NHS) was established in 1921 to recognize outstanding high school students. To be eligible for membership, students in grades 10-12 must

  • maintain a cumulative grade point of average of 3.2 or above, and
  • demonstrate excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character.

Star International Academy’s NHS chapter was established to recognize student accomplishments and encourage student growth through active involvement in school activities and community service. Upon selection for membership, candidates attend an induction ceremony in which they pledge to uphold the high standards of NHS.

Following induction, faculty advisors continue to monitor NHS members’ performance and discipline records to ensure adherence to rigorous NHS standards and chapter bylaws.  Members are also expected to perform 15 hours of community service each year, and many opportunities for service are available within the school community.
